Navigating Racially-Based Perspectives through the Lens of Individualism and Collectivism
Not all personal worldviews are the same as a dominant American worldview, but there is a systematic assumption that they are (I.e. healthcare systems, education systems, social systems, etc.). This workshop utilizes historical and contemporary experiences to illustrate the patterns of collectivistic and individualistic societies and systems. The workshop will identify specific strategies for increasing one’s own understanding of their worldview while simultaneously identifying interdisciplinary practice implications regardless of experience in the field (i.e. student, new professional, or experienced practitioner). The workshop presenters intentionally utilize their racial identities in the presentation of the materials.
