Disinformation is Voter Suppression

Session Description

Voter suppression is one of the greatest threats to democracy in the United States. In 2021 alone, 18 states have enacted over 30 laws that restrict voting access. There are also over 400 bills introduced in legislative sessions in 49 states to suppress the vote. With that said, not nearly enough resources are devoted to one of the most effective and deregulated methods of voter suppression: disinformation. Disinformation campaigns are sprouting up domestically and by foreign adversaries to undermine democracy. This session will cover the ways disinformation has infiltrated our political processes and methods to fight these insidious forces.
