Biography

Dr. Priya Kharat has been working extensively with marginalized communities in Canada including new immigrants and refugees. Working in various capacities and projects, Kharat has had the opportunity to pursue
her passion for teaching, scholarship, and research while bridging the gap between academia and the community.

Apart from working with the wellness center at the University of Calgary as a counsellor (instructor) especially appointed to address the needs of international students, Kharat also serves as the co-chair of the Ethno-Culturally Diverse Communities Committee of Calgary, which addresses the prevalence of domestic violence among the ethno-cultural communities in Calgary.
