Mia is the Site Supervisor and House Mom at Orangewood Foundation’s The Lighthouse, a transitional housing program for youth survivors of sex trafficking in Orange County, CA. Mia oversees and supports The Lighthouse team, providing feedback and coaching to ensure all interactions with youth are provided using developmentally appropriate and trauma-informed approaches. Mia models life skills by undertaking everyday activities with the youth such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping, and family-style outings.
Mia has worked with at-risk youth for over 13 years, 10 of them within the child welfare system. Mia has extensive training in working with gang-involved youth, cultural humanity, communication strategies, developmental disabilities, crisis de-escalation, and trauma-informed care.
