HBCU’s Role in the Social Justice Movement: From Resilience to Action

Description

Historically Black Colleges and Universities have long been a catalyst for change in the African American community and the world. Over the years, HBCUs have educated and empowered professionals with the knowledge, values, and skills to effect the change our communities need. HBCU’s are uniquely poised to tap into and leverage their strengths to drive the Social Justice movement, thereby answering the clarion call in our current Social Justice Emergency. This presentation will engage attendees in a robust discussion and identification of HBCU’s role in the current Social Justice movement.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify five ways to leverage the strengths of HBCUs in the Social Justice Movement.

  • Name four strategies HBCU’s can use to empower students to lead in Social Justice Movement activities.

  • Define macro practice strategies that HBCU’s can utilize to engage in challenging White Supremacy.
