Description

While social work proclaims social justice as a professional value, the history of social work education and practice tells another story. Yet, as uprisings continue to spring up across the country and world, more social workers are being activated into action. This session will explore that history in general and provide an overview of how social workers are disrupting systems of oppression.

  • Explore the history of white supremacy within the social work education and the profession

  • Examine ways in which social work educators and practitioners have worked to disrupt these systems

  • Discuss techniques in our everyday practice to push back against white supremacy
